I recently explored Asana's ecosystem for a project and wanted to share what I found. The Asana app directory offers many integrations and apps, making it a valuable hub for developers to enhance Asana’s capabilities.

What Is an Asana App?

Asana is a work management tool that helps teams track tasks, delegate responsibilities, monitor progress, and communicate in real-time. An Asana app extends or enhances these capabilities. Developers build Asana apps to integrate with other tools, manage data within the Work Graph, or automate workflows.

Apps can be for personal use, like the Google Drive integration that attaches files to tasks, or for organizational processes, like onboarding users through Okta. If you’re developing an integration and want other Asana users to find it, you can publish your app in the Asana App Directory.

The Asana App Ecosystem

Asana’s ecosystem includes over 400 apps and serves more than 150,000 customers, including Amazon, Accenture, and Suzuki. If your customers rely on Asana, integrating your app can make it an essential part of their workflow.

Developing and Building Your Asana App

Asana offers several resources to help developers build apps:
  • App Components: Information on components to extend Asana’s capabilities.
  • REST API: For integrating with other tools or backend systems.
